Myopia Management

Control The Progression

Myopia or short-sightedness is becoming more and more common. The most recent studies suggest that half of the worlds population will be myopic by 2050 and this means much more than just more people wearing glasses.

Myopia is a risk factor for a whole host of other eye conditions, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma and myopic macular degeneration and the more myopic you are, the greater the risk.

While it may be too late for many of us, recent advancements in spectacle and contact lens technology means we can control the progression of myopia in the next generation.

MiyoSmart Lenses

MiyoSmart lenses from Hoya have been proven to reduce the progression of myopia by an average of 60% and we are finding even better results than that in practice. These lenses are made from ultra-tough polycarbonate and have a reflection-free coating as standard. What's more, they are available on an affordable direct debit plan that includes the lenses, selected frames and regular aftercare appointments. Hoya will even replace the lenses free of charge if your child's prescription goes up by more than -0.50D within the first year.

If you and your child would prefer a glasses-free option, we offer MiSight contact lenses. Studies have shows that 90% of myopic eyes respond to the treatment and they cut the worsening of myopia by approximately 50%. The lenses are child-friendly and easy to use, in fact 90% of children surveyed preferred MiSight lenses to their glasses.
